🔗 My website. It’s good!

🔗 My newsletter, “The Morning Walk”. Also good! It’s about small business and marketing, written in a breezy, newsy style. Also, it has cute artwork.

🔗 My consulting company. Established in 2016, Hefty Media Group provides writing education and resources for the modern solopreneur, mainly through our Camp Wordsmith program. We also take occasional done-for-you editorial work, and have a “fractional editorial director” service.

🔗 Camp Wordsmith. Camp Wordsmith is my company’s trademarked content writing program. We provide education, coaching and turnkey and resources relevant for the modern solopreneur. Lots of cute artwork, too.

A Few Work Samples

✏️ Maxed Out: Inside America’s Credit Card Debt Crisis — and Where We Go From Here. A multimedia feature for CNET examining America’s credit card culture, which has led to a collective $1 trillion in consumer debt at interest rates over 20%.

✏️ How Gay Pin-Up Mags Launched a Political Revolution. In this edition of my finance column for Out Magazine, I looked at how the birth of Physique Pictorial and 1950s queer publishing culture influenced gay rights organization.

📺 Is your phone’s digital wallet safer than plastics? For Good Morning America, I weighed in on e-wallets, which after 10+ years still have mixed adoption rates.

✏️ If you’re LGBTQ in America, the time to broaden your skill set and prioritize career flexibility is now. An op-ed I wrote for Fast Company. I love having a portfolio career. It’s challenging at times, but keeps me sharp and humble, which is important. For marginalized populations who historically earn less at work, it’s even more important.
